Ohio is the best state for business. Seriously?

Michigan Edition

Thursday, August 6th

Things seem to be slower this month but it's still a great month to prep for this fall. We're just a few weeks away from schools being back in session and being in full gear again.

If you've been delaying re-connecting with someone, this is a great month to get that meeting on the calendar.

THE FRONT TABLE

Caps over I-75 in Detroit?

This could create a lot of opportunities in Downtown Detroit. Boston covered their freeway in a much larger way over decades and it transformed that entire part of the city. With the University of Michigan's Innovation Center going in, there could be a lot more people around that area over the next decade if it all comes to fruition.

Helping young women gain business and leadership skills

A great interview with Ellen Gilchrist, CEO of BasBlue, and Tia West, Founder of the Detroit Movement Collective. If you're in the Metro Detroit area and are looking for more support as a woman, keep an eye out for the next BasBlue program. Applications open later this month. Join their mailing list here.

The Start Garden 100 semi-finalists were announced

Congrats to all of the semi-finalists for the Start Garden 100. Even if you weren't selected, there's still a lot of resources and opportunities to come. If you're not a newer business, this is a great way for our community to support these newer businesses and continue building a strong small business community across the state. Demo Day is later this fall.

U.S. Edition Tuesday, August 4th I don't know about you, but things are a feeling a little slower this week and I'm perfectly okay with that. As a friend of mine told me last week though, these slower times are great times to re-connect with your network that might lead to new business or partnerships later in Q4. Go message someone you want to catch up with this month. Brought to you by Superhuman I send and receive a lot of emails. Gmail and Outlook just don't cut it for me. That's where...
